In order to have the Instant Search feature for Public Folders behave the same as for your mailbox, the following conditions must be met; Outlook must be configured to cache Public However, it can also create serious problems for your Outlook and search if you choose to add too many public folders to your favorites. Inbox search was still not working, but Ken McGuire's tip fixed that as well. Following his advice restored search access to my "Sent" folder.

My System Specs OS . . This was the ticket. Once I selected the "Change View / IMAP Messages" I started getting results. So I just went to C:\users\ actual users profile name\appdata\local\microsoft and deleted the entire outlook folder.
