Now it is time to remove the guts of the clock from the canister: remove the 3 screws from the rear surface of the clock and unsolder the ground connection (Figure There is a steel disk about 3/4" in diameter near the rear end of the clock which has an electrical contact mounted under it. This is of course refering to a '85.5+ car. My clock 'tries' to run when power is applied, so it looks like it may just need cleaning / lubrication.

I've got similar equiptment. On Day 0, I set the correct time, on Day 2, the clock was accurate "to the second" from what I could tell at least within 1 minute. I've also got the plans for a 12" sub that fits in your spare tire compartment that I did on a prior 944 which would put out a Zippo lighter!

Comment: after soldering the burnt fuse it might be wise to put an inline fuse to the power line. Back then, they were notoriously unreliable. When this electrical contact is closed, current is sent to the coil which spins the steel disk around about 1/2 turn. Inside you will find a series of gears and a coil and a couple of springs (Figure 2).
