j-n-8812-08-2009, 11:14 PMold post, but my hdi seems to do the same, on start up it goes to full, then while running it goes back asif it was low temp or checked fuses under dash and in engine bay all ok.. Then, suddenly, the STOP light flashes and the temperature gauge rises to the red zone. A multimeter accross the sensor (in ohms mode) when cold and when hot should verify if this is the case or not.
cully25-01-2013, 05:42 PM get some diagnostic equipment on there as the hdi use's a second temp probe to measure the temp for ECU reference so the gauge sensor may be faulty The wiring and connections are different. if the level is too low the sensor isnt covered therefore wont read anything. It was if the thermostat was opening early but not opening fully.
WHen letting the car stand stil idling (without thermostat) the low speed-fans does not kick in before its close to 110c, same as with thermostat.
